Burgess Blitz Annacarty

There then followed four more Burgess points to Annacartys one for the remainder of the half to leave interval score, Burgess 3-8 to Annacartys 0-4. Points by Tadgh OHalloran, John OBrien and Mike OFlaherty along with an excellent goal by Eoin Hogan had us in a healthy 2-4 to 0-1 lead with 11 minutes elapsed. The Burgess points coming from Murray and OBrien. Two quick Annacarty points around the 13 minute mark and the Burgess Blitz resumed with another fine goal this time from Stephen Murray. This set the tone for the rest of the half.

Kickhams though never looked out of the game and it took two points from Ronan OBrien who had moved out the field as the clock ticked down to seal the issue for Eire g. On the first day out Dinny Crosses goal mid-way through the first half in that game proved to be difference at the final whistle as Eire g advanced. Just over three months later in the same venue the sides will go head to head again.

Burgess U16 played Borrisokane in round 3 of the north championship on Tuesday last at 7pm in Kilcoleman. Unfortunately it wasnt to be Burgess day as we went down by 3 points on a final score line of Burgess 2-07, Borrisokane 1-13. Burgess can be proud of their work rate and this was their best performance so far. Borrisokane lead by 2 points at half time. In what was a keenly contested game with only a puck of the ball separating the teams throughout. The game continued in the same vain for the second half with both teams fighting for every possession and score.

David Butler in the Kickhams attack was superb from play and placed balls in their semi-final win over Clonoulty/R. The OBrien brothers of Ronan and Conor will bring a vast experience to this Eire g forward line with both well capable of getting scores. On the Kickhams side both Johnny Ryan and Brendan Ryan are a vital cog in the Kickhams full forward line as we have seen in their games to date. Paudie ODwyer is a very important player in the Eire g attack and as he showed in round 1 is deadly accurate from placed balls. Damien McGrath was to the fore for Kickhams in their semi-final win and his experience will be vital to the Kickhams cause come 2.30pm on Sunday. Brian Fox will be another to watch for Eire g and his energy in the Eire g half back line will propel the team further up the field.

Burgess remained dominant with excellent points from play by Peter and Conor Gill. Annacarty were slow to come out of the dressing rooms for the second half and Burgess added to their tally inside the first minute with a fine point by Eoin Hogan. Jack OFlaherty sallied forth from his corner back position to add his name to the score sheet also with a fantastic long range effort but the scores of the half came from two Murray line balls.
