Our Prediction:

Barcelona will win

Granada – Barcelona Match Prediction | 22-09-2019 15:00

The winners of this Fridays game will (briefly at least) go top of the table so theres plenty of incentive here for both Granada and Sevilla with Andalusian pride also at stake. The visitors will be the favourites but they will know they will be in for a game against a Granada side who caught the eye on the opening weekend.

Sevilla are the favourites but Granada will be full of belief following an excellent pre-season and that fine comeback at Villarreal. Julen Lopeteguis team have plenty of quality out wide and in midfield though and will certainly ask plenty of questions of their newly promoted opponents and this has the potential to be a good game with goals at both ends. They will fancy they can be a threat from set-pieces again here against a team that will take time to gel and could just be caught off guard at the back given there are clearly players still getting used to playing with one another.

Villarreal have been producing fine performances in pre-season and seeing that they outplayed the likes of Augsburg, Koln, Levante and WBA, we believe that Santi Cazorla and Co. Estadio de la Ceramica will host Saturdays football match between Villarreal and Granada, the two teams who face each other in the opening match of the season. The Yellows were struggling in the 2018/2019 La Liga season, but they eventually managed to avoid the drop to the Spanish second tier. are capable of beating newcomers Granada in front of home fans.

Highlighted Team (Barcelona):

Its not just in Europe where they struggle away from home either. They head into this game having failed to win any of their last 6 away matches in all competitions. That includes trips to Osasuna and Athletic Club in La Liga this season. Barcelona were again unconvincing away in the Champions League and were somewhat fortunate to leave with a point with Marc-Andre ter Stegen largely to thank for that.

Granada did defeat Celta Vigo 2-0 on the road at the weekend, but you should bear in mind that both Jorge Saenz and Fran Beltran were sent off in Sundays football match. In their last meeting at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes Barcelona recorded a 4-1 win over Granada. are going to record their third victory of the season. The newcomers face an uphill task against Barcelona and we are positive that Leo Messi and Co.

Both sides have been involved in some high scoring contests already this season and we should see a few goals in this one. Barca have also really struggled to control games in midfield, certainly on the road, so this could be a lot more even than the most recent clashes between these sides and the hosts could well get a result. Jordi Alba is out for Barcelona and Granada may feel as though they can exploit that possible weakness with Junior Firpo set to come in.

The likes of Yacine Brahimi, Juan Aguero, Gustavo Benitez, Pahinho, Denis Milar, Julio Montero Castillo, Capi, Cesar and Jose Mingorance are famous players that were part of the Estadio El Sadar outfit in the past. The original colour of Granadas kits were blue and white, but after the Spanish Civil War the club chiefs bought new ones (red and white).

Goalscorers

They won 1-4 in this fixture last season and expect something similar here. With Messi back in the fold after injury, the goals will surely follow and Ernesto Valverde's men should get back to winning ways and rack up the goals here. Barcelona were held to a rare draw in Dortmund in their midweek Champions League match but they will look to get back on track here.

Diego Martinez charges face a huge test as they take on the champions at Los Carmenes this Saturday evening, in a game that should produce plenty goals based on the current form of both sides and past meetings between the pair. Granada took full advantage of two early red cards for Celta Vigo last week to post a 0-2 success at Balaidos, the win taking Nazaries up to 6th in the early La Liga standings and level on points with Barcelona.

Their striker Luis Suarez scored two. They have to win this game to continue their run and catch Sevilla and Atl Madrid at the top. In the last round, they played without Dembele and Messi and still demolished Valencia 5:2, with many chances created as they usually do. Barcelona was stunned in the first round with an 89th-minute stunner by Aritz Aduriz in Bilbao, which claimed them 3 points and left Barcelona pointless. It is still unknown, whether Messi will play or not, but it all indicates that he could be sidelined again.

Luis Suarez scored on his return from injury and, to make things even better for Barca fans, key player Leo Messi should return against Granada as well. The reigning champions are eager to climb to top position in the standings and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at the Andalusians on Matchday 5. Barcelona will be aiming to build on a 5-2 win over Valencia when they take on newcomers Granada on Matchday 5.

Cards & Corners

That is the style, that Barcelona is known for. In the last 10 matches between them, only once was scored under 2.5 goals. A demolishing victory is something we see quite a lot on their games, even though they have taken just one away point from the last 9 available in La Liga. On the other side, Granada has never trailed by over 1.5 goals at halftime in La Liga Head-to-Head matches at home this century. Barcelona is dominating their Head-to-Head matches with only 2 defeats from 20 games in recent history.

Granada has started this season great, with 7 points from 4 games. They continued their great form from the preseason, where they casually won against the likes of Sevilla, Las Palmas, Almeria, etc They will try to make a statement in this match, as they can be a tough team with a high potential for surprises. They have proved that in the first round like it was already said. Their best acquisition this summer was the famous Spaniard Roberto Soldado who will bring his experience in what it looks like a battle for the middle of the table and La Liga next year, too.
