Kliff Kingsbury said the blocking has also improved, so the Red Raiders will look to get into the end zone on big plays coming off of screens and viathe run game. He has thrown for more than200 yards in the first half in each of hisfirst two games. So, like always, look for him to put up the stats quick. Mahomes is at the top of the nation in passing and total offense.

North Texas defeated Louisiana Tech by a 63-59 margin at home in early January and although the Mean Green might not snap their losing streak, I think the North Texas will keep it close enough to cover with the points. North Texas hasnt been playing their best basketball as of late, however, I like the depth that Mean Green have and believe that their solid defense will be able to give the Bulldogs some trouble. Good Luck!

Louisiana Tech wont have the offense to mount any sort of a charge if Texas can get out to an early 14-0 lead which it will. Texas will be a +3 in turnover margin, and itll capitalize and all the chances. The Bulldogs wont get blown out, but the Longhorns will be able to put it on cruise control after the first quarter.

And the worst may be yet to come. On the other hand, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016 were lean and ugly years. As hinted above, 2018 already saw a decline from the previous season. And the answer is yes, yes there is. Since 2010 there has been a clear pattern in Texas. Now the question is, is there any reason to believe history will repeat? That year and 2011, 2014 and 2017 were fat and sleek.

Bowl Projections

Ryan Higgins lit up the SCSU secondary by posting four touchdowns and 409 yards in the win. However, the offensive line did give up three sacks and the Red Raiders could boost its defensive morale if they can make stops. 1receiver, Trent Taylor, caught 11 passes and three touchdowns while racking up 178 yards. With a passing attack, look for the Bulldogs to try and match Tech'sAir Raid. His No. Early mistakes put the Bulldogs behind, but the second half was a different story. The Bulldogs are coming off of a strong win after being delayed for weather issues against South Carolina State.

The Bulldogs scored almost 300 fewer points than the 2016 team did two years ago, and they only won one fewer game. There are parts to like, starting with veteran senior QB JMar Smith who threw for more yards, but didnt get the ball down the field enough and a good-looking receiving corps that gets 75-catch Adrian Hardy and ten of the top 11 pass catchers. The offensewasnt its normal, explosive selfunder head man Skip Holtz. How good was the defense?

Look for the crowd to be thunderous when LouisianaTech has possession. Jones AT&T Stadium can bean intimidating place to play, especially fora smaller school that's notthe favorite. The Bulldogs have a strong QB-WR duo. However, don't be surprised if the Bulldogs attack the weak Red Raider run defense. Higgins and Taylor will try to repeat their performance last week against theRed Raiders. If the Bulldogs can get some momentum early and make plays, then they'll be in good shape to pull off the win.

A bit more up front will make Jaqwis Dancy a factor after averaging over five yards per carry with a team-high 667 yards and nine scores. The lack of a steady commitment to the ground game had a whole lot to do with that. The backfield could use a little more thump, but the backs are fine. The running game failed to hit the 2,000-yard markfor the first time since 2013, averaging fewer than four yards per carry.

What's on the line?

Texas defense was nowhere near as good as that of Louisiana Techs. Quandre Diggs, Cedric Reed, Mykkele Thompson, Steve Edmond, Malcom Brown and Jordan Hicks all exited stage left. The Longhorns lost eight defensive starters who had previously combined for 233 starts and 366 games. Lowlights included 452.6 total yards and 219.2 rushing yards allowed per game, and 30.3 points allowed per game. By way of comparison, the 2015 Longhorns defense lost 200 combined starts. And it currently does not appear to be very deep either. What was left was one of the worst Texas defenses in recent memory.
