Pacos Ferreira (@2.15) vs Aves (@3.3)

Our Prediction:

Pacos Ferreira will win

Pacos Ferreira – Aves Match Prediction | 20-09-2019 15:30

The visitors have only lost one of their last six matches in all competitions, away at Moreirense, and managed to beat Estoril in the Taca de Liga last time out. Were not only expecting a win for the hosts this weekend but also a clean sheet as Benfica have won five of their last six meetings between the pair and kept five clean sheets against Pacos de Ferreira during that period.

Boavista looked like they might have more goalscoring issues this season after failing to score in their four matches leading into the new season, but have now scored three times in their opening two matches. Boavista won their only home game of the new season 2-1 against Aves, thanks to goals from Njie and Costa, while Pacos de Ferreira lost their only away game of the new season 5-0 at Benfica and have only kept one clean sheet in their last six matches.

Benfica are off to a flyer thanks to that impressive Super Cup victory over local rivals Sporting CP and will want to make a statement of intent in their opening game of the new Primeira Liga campaign on Saturday. Pacos de Ferreira havent been in bad form and their defensive record has been decent in recent weeks but they havent faced anyone as strong as Benfica and we believe that will show on Saturday. Were confident that Benfica will win to nil on Saturday and have predicted a final scoreline of 5-0.

There is only a single point separating the two teams on the brink of the danger area and neither of the two managers has the luxury of affording a failure here. Both Desportivo Aves and Pacos de Ferreira are struggling badly in Primeira Liga coming into Sundays clash which has the ingredients of being the relegation six-pointer at this stage.

Last season Boavista secured some excellent results in their own backyard and kept a lot of clean sheets but goalscoring often let them down. However, Saturdays hosts have scored in their opening two matches this season and have four points on the board, while their guests Pacos de Ferreira have none. Despite the visitors edging the form guide heading into Saturdays match, its Boavista that the stats suggest will claim all three points this weekend.

Things have been much different in the league, though, as Aves have lost four and drawn one of last five league encounters failing to keep a clean sheet in the process. Even though they are about to come face to face to a spoor opposition as well, we can hardly see them hold things tight at the back on Sunday either given that Ferreira were more than able of netting goals as of late.

It0s fair to say that Miguel Cardosos side has been prolific up front in the most recent ties. Even though Cardoso does not have a real predator in the final third, the team showed decent efficiency as of late mainly thanks to midfielder Joao Novais and striker Helder Guedes who have bagged four goals each so far in the season.

Were confident that Boavista will win on Saturday and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-0. The hosts are usually very strong at home and keep a tight defence, while their guests have been leaking goals and are yet to score since making their return to the Primeira Liga. Were not expecting many goals in this game given the two clubs most recent encounters but have backed Boavista to score twice without reply.

The hosts beat Academica 8-0 in a recent pre-season friendly and look lethal in attack and rock-solid at the back, which makes for the perfect combination heading into a new season. However, Benfica have won their last five matches on the run, keeping four clean sheets during that period, and beat Sporting CP 5-0 in the Super Cup last weekend.

Newly-promoted Pacos de Ferreira have endured a painful start to life back in the top flight after a 5-0 defeat at Benfica was followed up by a disappointing 1-0 loss at home to Santa Clara. Boavista earned a draw away at Vitoria Guimaraes last weekend and will be hoping to pick up more points on the road this season after relying heavily on their home form in the last campaign.

Benfica have won thirty-seven of the pairs forty-six encounters over the years and the bookmakers are fully expecting that total to increase this weekend. As you might expect, all the stats point towards a convincing victory for Benfica on Saturday, and its hard to find anything that even remotely suggests that Pacos de Ferreira can escape on Saturday with even a point.

The substitute Cristian Arango stole the show netting two goals in a 4-4 draw last Wednesday and he might get the chance to make the starting lineup this weekend against Pacos de Ferreira. The hosts might save the season in Taca da Portugal, though, as theyve performed a miraculous comeback to see off the likes of Rio Ave and advance into the semis on penalties.
