Michigan will win

Rutgers – Michigan Match Prediction | 28-09-2019 12:00

The Scarlet Knights are 11th in the Big 10- Conference with a 5-10 win/loss tally and 12-13 in the NCAA BB League. Guard Geo Baker takes care of the assists department at 4 assists per game. Rutgers is 41.4% in field goal shooting and 31.5% from beyond the arc. The team is 9-4 ATS in its last 13 matches on the road and 4 out if its 5 road matches went under the totals after an ATS win. Omoruyi leads the Scarlet Knights score sheets with 13.8 ppg as well as in rebounds at 7.5 boards per game.

Overall confidence cannot be very high for this young team right now. The Wolverines dropped a game no one expected three weeks ago against Michigan State and had to listen to everyone in the state thrash the program. Then U-M escaped Indiana before being blitzed last week at Penn State. U-M's defense had plenty of problems last week against Penn State, but it's still a talented group.

Wide receiver Bo Melton has talent, as does Blackshear. The New Jersey native was a 3-star prospect who had 27 offers, including early interest from Michigan when Jedd Fisch was with the program. Sitkowski could improve, over time, for the Knights. He's a talented prospect who is currently working from behind with a group of young players.

They've been outscored by the Wolverines 162-30 in three games since then, including that 78-0 loss a couple years ago. That win, and the memorable blocked field goal that helped seal it, brought optimism that Rutgers could soon compete for division titles in the Big Ten. Rutgers' first major Big Ten win came four years ago against Michigan. This Rutgers team might be even worse than that Rutgers team, and this Michigan team might be the best Michigan team since 2004. Four years later, that game is still the Scarlet Knights' only major Big Ten win.

Rutgers has no answer for what the Wolverines can throw at it in the front seven. The fronts: Michigan's defensive line should completely control this football game.

Rutgersvs. Michigan Stateprediction:

Michigan is at 48.9% shooting average and 38.6% from three-point range. Guard Matt McQuaid converted 4 out of 6 from the three-point range summing 14 points for the Spartans. Meanwhile in East Lansing, Michigan, the Spartans are on a 3-game winning streak after running through the Ohio State Buckeyes at a score of 62-44 at Breslin, Sunday. Forward Kenny Goins followed with a double-double at 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds off the glass.

Michigan State lost a close one to Illinois last week, making it seven straight losses in a row for the Spartans. Injuries have riddled this team, and its looking like they might have to start third-string quarterback Damion Terry on Saturday. Its a shock to the system for a team that made the College Football Playoff last year.

Maybe this seems like a foregone conclusion, but don't expect Michigan to overlook anyone. In 2016, the Wolverines were 9-0 and ranked second in the CFP rankings. Handling business begins Saturday against a Rutgers team that has been flailing for the better part of two months.

But he's a true freshman pocket passer, which spells trouble. Rutgers ranks dead last nationally in total plays from scrimmage of 20 yards or more, with just 18. The Knights have been better at protecting the passer this season, but any rushes have created problems for Sitkowski, who has completed fewer than 50 percent of his throws. This is as conservative an offense as you'll see. When Rutgers has the ball: Artur Sitkowski is the quarterback of the present and the future for Rutgers. He also has four touchdown passes against 15 interceptions. Sophomore running back Raheem Blackshear is the leading rusher (437 yards) and leading receiver (316 yards).

Michigan has a talent advantage over Rutgers in basically every area. U-M's defense has had one poor performance and it came against one of the best offenses in America. There's no reason why this shouldn't be a comfortable win. Rutgers has one of the worst offenses in America. This is a win.

Michigan's 78-0 dismantling of Rutgers a year ago in New Jersey was as historic as it was absurd. And Rutgers surely remembers the embarrassment of a 78-0 loss and surely believes it is a better football team. While Rutgers still has issues, it's not as bad as it was a year ago. The Scarlet Knights gave Washington a scare in the season opener. The run game has been something to build on (167.7 yards per game). The Wolverines rushed for 480 yards in that game and tied a program record with nine rushing scores. Rutgers still ranks toward the bottom of the league in a number of offensive and defensive categories. They've broken their 16-game Big Ten losing streak and gained some confidence. It was the largest margin of victory any Big Ten team since 1940.
